kmoroz
I received a request today that would be great to have in the product. If someone calls your extension and you have call screening set you can send it to voice mail and listen to what they person is saying and then hit a key and jump into the call. Much like we can do with a traditional answering machine at home. Does anyone else think this would be appealing to have in the product? Vodia PBX
In SIP, that would mean that we would need to redirect the call to a special star code, which then starts the mailbox and at the same time intercoms the phone. I would say that would ask for a lot of problems, as the intercom and the reject of the previous call likely overlaps. Another way would be to use the anonymous intercept feature and offer another option to send that call to "monitor voicemail" or so - but in that case the caller would already have said his name. Also not a very appealing option. We were thinking about a feature to make the phone play back the mailbox recording while the other party is still on the phone. This is what more residential answering machines do. But by default in the office environment that does not make sense, as all other colleagues would hear that voicemail as well. brandywinetech.com
this exists in Comdial and Nortel Systems ... it allows the user to hear the message ":real time" while the call is being screened .. then they can grab it if it is someone they want to talk to without having to go through the whole process .. basically an easier TDM funtion than for IP Packet based systems .. yori
