Snoop
Is there any way to assign PIN codes to users (or people) instead of extensions? We have a retail store environment where casual staff come and go on a regular basis. In our current PABX store managers are given PIN codes, which have to be entered each time a call is made. I have been unable to find a similar feature in SNOM One. The best I could come up with was hot desking. The problem with this solution is that it is very laborious to always have to enable/disable hot desking before and after each call. Any other suggestions? This is the only stumbling block preventing us from rolling out SNOM One to our chain of 20 stores.
Vodia support
Check the dial plan section, you will "C" for CMC and "P" for Pin. If Pin has been checked mark then the user is required to enter his/her pin code before they're allowed to make an outbound call, you will have to assign the pin on the extension level under the "general section" Here is a 411 on this feature.. http://wiki.snomone.com/index.php?title=Create_a_Dial_Plan

I tried this before posting and the problem is that you can't use another extension's pin. Here's the scenario: ext 40 with pin 12345 ext 41 with pin 54321 The employee who has ext 40 assigned to them has to make a call from ext 41. When that employee uses his/her pin 12345 they get told that it's the wrong pin for that extension. The only way I've found to make it work is by hot desking, which is too cumbersome when one just needs to make a quick call.
Vodia PBX
Hmm. You could use the "calling card" account for that purpose (http://wiki.snomone.com/index.php?title=Calling_Card_Behavior and check also this one out: http://kiwi.pbxnsip.com/index.php/Calling_Card). However then customers would have to first dial the CC account number. Maybe we have to add a domain flag that instructs the PBX to ask for the extension, too. The solution works and it already does ask for the extension number. Dialing the CC number first won't be a problem - most people are used to traditional systems where one has to dial a number for an outside line before making calls. I've forwarded the proposed solution to the IT manager for approval. Your prompt assistance is greatly appreciated!
