let user select ring tones on snom 720

how can the user select a ring tone of the 10 ringtones?

since the phone is provisioned by the pbx the menu button does not give the option to change the ringtone.

also the web user interface has no option.

 

i don't want to auto provision this. the user should be able to choose.

This is a topic that we need to address properly. Workaround include the editing of ringtones.xml, but it is very difficult for end users to just change the ring melody.

is there a download link for the current built in 10 ringtones so i can send them to the client for him to choose?

once he decided i will set them through pnp…

I believe what we will do is to change the ringtones.xml like this:

 

 

<tone name="internal" type="internal">

<vendor ua="Polycom.*">Internal</vendor>

<vendor ua="Cisco-.*"><Bellcore-dr2></vendor>

<vendor ua="Grandstream HT.*"><Bellcore-dr1></vendor>

<vendor ua="snom.*">alert-internal</vendor>

</tone>

 

Then the phones will use the setting for controlling the internal ring tone, which is a settings that can be controlled by the user through the local menu.

 

The same applies for external. There is another setting for groups, which will be used for the custom1-4 (they will be all the same then).

via PNP the ringtone selected in the GUI is not auto provision and changes in the GUI for the ringtone has no effect to the snom 720
