voltier
As per title, the system isn’t doing anything with # and I’m suspecting it’s waiting for a command for something else perhaps. Anybody encounter this?
Vodia PBX
I would make sure that DTMF works - e.g. call the mailbox and see if it does anything. If it does the next question would be - where does it happen?
voltier
Hi Vodia, just to be clear I’m referring to Auto Attendants. I wouldn’t think DMTF is the issue here as User Inputs 1-9 function as intended. Not sure if # is classified as special characters or not
Vodia PBX
Oh ok - yes # is kind of special. The problem with the auto attendant is that the choices in the auto attendant (press 1 for sales) may overlap with extension numbers (101). In that case the # means that the auto attendant would not wait for a timeout.
Scott1234
FYI not sure if related to this, but the setting, Extension input - User Must Hit Pound It does nothing, it still operates the same as when the extension matches. Pound is not used anywhere else in the given Auto Attendant
Vodia PBX
Is this from the app or from the desktop phone? Do you see the DTMF key in the log, so that we don't have a problem on media level?
Scott1234
I mean the logic of the setup. When set to user must hit pound to trigger its not obeying. it will still preform the search with out hitting pound, via the time out? Maybe its meant to be like so? I was just trying to disable people from using extension dialling in the Auto Attendant by making them need to hit pound but not advertise it. Vodia PBX
Well the whole topic when to terminate the number and not is a messy topic. There is no industry standard about it, and there are pro and cons for it. So far we have stayed with however it is right now and have the user listen to the prompt or just wait—and if nothing happens—try the pound key. Some PBX systems require that the extension number length is always the same, which makes this one easier, but takes out a lot of the flexibility having mixed numbers.
