VodiaPBX Posted November 26 Report Posted November 26 We have announced our latest beta release that integrates Vodia PBX (version 69.5.3 and above) with the OpenAI Realtime API, enabling users to interact with a chatbot directly through their phone system. This new functionality allows any VoIP device supported by Vodia PBX - whether it’s a desktop phone, SIP trunk, DECT phone, or the Vodia mobile and desktop apps - to connect to OpenAI’s powerful AI, providing natural and engaging voice interactions. Uploading the code into the system is straightforward: you simply need to edit the ivrnode.js template to bring AI-powered conversations to your communication system. This can be done at the system, tenant, and potentially, in the future, at the IVR node level. The current beta version offers excellent voice quality and supports G.711 μ-law, but this can also be pcm16, which might be another setting in the future. Additional improvements on the horizon include voice activity detection to reduce traffic and costs, as well as dynamic call routing based on AI responses. Check out our blog post to learn more about the setup process and the code you will need. We would love to hear your feedback and ideas for future enhancements! Quote
