Bright House Business SIP

Recommended Posts

For all considering Bright Business SIP trunk on Fiber. We brought this up in 20 minutes... Rock Solid for two weeks now.

Business Fiber Internet services 3yr deal $350 for 6MB added (3) 8 call path trunks for $125 each... Best Deal in Indiana if you can get on their fiber.

The cool thing about this configuration is we assign a private IP adddress of our choosing 10.10.10.X/30 with No gateway and create a Persistent static route to the IP address of the Bright House SIP server. That second NIC of the PBX is exclusively for the SIP trunk, and we didn't violate the dreaded windows Multi-Home problems...

We did ask a question though and got the following reply. The question is.

when looking at the active call log, all inbound calls are being identified by the number 3175554999 I was expecting to see assigned numbers in the call log. The system is correctly processing the inbound calls to the correct hunt and agent groups though. Why For?

The answer is,

This is a little manipulation done by our switch. It places the TN’s LRN into the To field of the SIP message. The calling party’s info should still be in the From field, and the dialed digits will show up in the URI of the INVITE. It’s a little off-kilter, but it is the expected behavior.

The question is, Will this affect the CDR information in a stock PBXnSIP installation?

Cheers.

I guess the PBX can only put into the CDR what it gets (if we are talking about inbound calls).

Understood, so what fields are being dynamically displayed in the active call listing? and can this be changed to display the FROM and the URI in the invite?

The PBX focus on those fields: From, To (they are taken literally). The other field is the local party, usually identified by the Request-URI or the To-header, this can be set up by the trunk inbound routing patterns. This is the one who has to pay for the call. Then the PBX also reports the remote party, which may differ from the To/From header, e.g. in the case of redirection.
