media timeout (120 seconds)

We're getting multiple messages emailed to us every day with the folloing,

The call between sip:5556661234@domain.com;user=phone and

sip: 5556661234@domain.com;user=phone has been disconnected

because of media timeout (120 seconds), 4202/10194 packets have been

received/sent

Some people are complaining of calls dropping with this. If one end of the call sits dead for 2 minutes while the other is talking does it end the call? Where can we change this timer or stop this error from happening?

this only happen if one part have disconnect the call and the user remain on the call, it will disconnect after 120 second, if you will do mute and listen to a speach/hotline/radio it wont get disconnected

is there not a way to extend this time? If someone is in a quiet office listening to someone talk about a product or in a phone conference he may not make a sound for some time. 120 seconds is just too small of a time for silence.

If your wife calls... how much talking do you get in?

yes, dear... yes, dear... yes, dear... yes, dear... yes, dear... yes, dear... yes, dear...

You can change the parameter, it's name is "timeout_connected" (this is a global setting, change it in the pbx.xml file or through the web interface).

The other problem is that many firewall close the ports if there was no activity from the inside. VAD is not such a good idea anyway.
