Voicemail not picking up some calls

Recommended Posts

Users are reporting that voicemail is not picking up some calls. Today I've had 2 users report on 4 different mailboxes that it didn't answer, and just rang endlessly. When I call from my cell phone, all the calls went to voicemail - but when they tried, it did not.

We're currently running:

Version: 2011-4.5.0.1030 Beta Corona Austrinids (CentOS32)

on a snomONE appliance.

Are they twinning their extensions with the cell phone? Maybe that is causing the issue, the PBX might be waiting for the users to press a button but it is only the cell phone mailbox talking to the PBX.

No - one of the extensions was mine, and I don't have my cell phone information in it at all. I do have a m3 attached as well though. The other extension that it happened to only has one registration and no cell phone info.

Thanks!

Well the other "classic" would be that phones are registered over the Internet and the connection is not reliable. Lets say the PBX sends the INVITE, but the CANCEL does not make it. In that case, the PBX would send hte call to the VM though.

The phones are located in the office on the same LAN as the PBX.

That would reduce the probability of an unrealiable connection... Though we have seen cases where the Ethernet cable was broken. We have also seen cases with IP address conflicts with all kinds of funny effects (are you using static IP addresses in your office?). Are the phones still responsive after this or do they need a reboot?

We're using DHCP reservations on that subnet. The phones themselves are fine, and the issue is actually intermittent.

Which phones are you using and what firmware version?

We have snom 320s & 821s running 8.4.35

Is the PBX also using DHCP? Apart from that, I am running out of ideas. In a simple LAN setup, such problems should not exist.

Both interfaces (internal and external) are static. Routes are correct. Mostly, the PBX functions as expected, except for occasionally not answering and sending to voicemail.

I'm curious if anyone found a solution to this issue? I'm experiencing the exact same problem using the same setup. SnomOne appliance, CentOS Beta Corona Austrinids 4.5.0.1030. Phones are 320 and 821 with 8.7.3.19 firmware on both.

Some calls go to vm (area code 802 so far) but calls from others (area codes 206, 410 and 303 so far) do not.

The SnomOne has static addressing on both interfaces as well and there is no network issues.

Thanks!

You mentioned that users who are in area codes 206, 410 and 303 have issues getting to an extension VM, is it possible to provide us with a clean sip log of this event?

Thanks
