Can someone please outline the specific requirements needed to get a polycom phone up on snom one?

What files need to go where? How do I set up the Polycom SIP device to connect? Any information will be useful.

Thanks in advance.

Polycom is considered a "third party device" which means that the automatic provisioning does not work by default with snom ONE. There is a optional license option available that takes the Polycom provisioning from the pbxnsip times and enables it also for snom ONE. Please ask sales for details on how to obtain that license.

If you dont need automatic provisioning, you can still use the TFTP server of the PBX to provision the Polycom devices; however you must manually generate the data in that folder. Polycom provides provisioning templates for this purpose that you can edit with a standard editor.

Would you put the polycom config files in /usr/local/snomONE/tftp directory or would it be the standard tftp directory /tftpboot ?

I have extracted the necessary files to that directory and Im not getting anywhere. The phone just sits on "Updating initial configuration."

Via HTTP: Packet captures show that the phone is requesting "login.htm" Never gets anywhere.

Via TFTP: all traffic is coming from the phone - No traffic out from the server. Iptables has been modified to allow inbound and outbound tftp traffic.

The polycom is set with a static server IP. Server User is ext@domain.com and the Server Password is the main provisioning authentication password. For testing purposes I have made the extensions SIP and HTTP password the same.

Please help and thank you again.

TFTP works practically only in the LAN... of course the alternative is to set up a web server somewhere in the network and use that one for provisioning the files. The next problem will be tweaking a couple of parameters, so that e.g. intercom starts to work.

Maybe just make a deal with sales and ask them to sell you a pbxnsip license key; that should make it a lot easier for you and also for us!

I spoke with sales and apparently we already have the pbxnsip license. Im not sure what the issue is. I have followed the steps outlined here: http://kiwi.pbxnsipsupport.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=236 and the phone is sitting on "Updating Initial Configuration"

If you are running the pbxnsip version with pbxnsip license, then there should not be any issue. BTW, what is the version number (Admin->Status page) of the PBX?

2011-4.5.0.1050 Coma Berenicids (CentOS64)

There must be an issue somewhere...Still on 'updating initial configuration'

And what do you mean by "running the pbxnsip version with pbxnsip license". Im running a pbxnsip license on snomONE.

thanks again.

What do you mean by "they will not sell the PNP files"?. All the files are already in there in the PBX as templates. Whether the PBX does plug and play with the phone or not is a matter of license key. That's all.

PBX versions 4.3 and earlier had both pbxnsip and snomONE versions. So, you could run the pbxnsip binary with licence created for those binaries. Since features and functionality of these 2 binaries are almost identical, we no longer create pbxnsip binaries. We create just snomONE binary and let the license key do the magic for enabling / disabling the features.

If the phone is stuck on "updating initial configuration", then either you can reset (not reboot) the phone or use another TFTP server to serve the files or contact Polycom.

They will not sell a license key with vendor: Polycom, they will set refer: true, however not vendor: Polycom.

I keep getting a 403 response from snomone (Pic attached)

According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_HTTP_status_codes :

"403 Forbidden

The request was a valid request, but the server is refusing to respond to it.[2] Unlike a 401 Unauthorized response, authenticating will make no difference.[2] On servers where authentication is required, this commonly means that the provided credentials were successfully authenticated but that the credentials still do not grant the client permission to access the resource (e.g. a recognized user attempting to access restricted content)."

Why is the server rejecting the connection?

Guys, let's stop this back and forth until we sort out the license issue that we talked about. Once you have the proper licence, this problem must go away.

BTW, your attachment just shows that PBX is redirecting the user for a login attempt (302 Moved Temporarily).
