SIP Session Timers?

Does pbxnsip have the ability to suport SIP Session Timers? We are currently doing an InterOp test with Level3 and one of the tests they are requiring is to have SIP Session Timers enabled for calls longer than 15 minutes.

Well, because the PBX is media-aware session timer are not neccessary. What happens if the call gets esblished? Do they reject the call?

This is for one of the (many) test cases for the InterOp testing. I will contact the engineer and find out if the session timers are necessary to successfully complete this test case. Thanks for your help.

Hi All,

We have recently had calls dropping after 15 Minutes every call on the PBX on our registered trunk and un registered trunk,

we have never set session timers but our provider has sent us an email saying it is an issue with our session timers as our pbx is sending bye messages after 15 minutes and dropping the session,

Is there a way I can fix this on the PBX?

Our supplier is Digiweb

thanks,

James

Just to be clear. session time is a INVITE message that happens at the 15 minute marker. snomone does respond back to the reinvite just fine.

If you dont receive this invite message, then there is an upstream provider issue.

Well, snom ONE does not support session timer (the RFC). But the RFC says you don't have to support it. Session timer is only useful when the PBX has no other means to see if the session is still alive. But the PBX checks every few milliseconds, because of the RTP awareness. So there is no need for session timer.

The problem with the session timer is probably a wrong implementation of the RFC. But we need to take a look at the trace what the problem is.

hmm when a session timer expires from the carrier they send a re-invite to pbx. snomone does respond to the reinvite with an OK so the timer renews.

snomone might not support times to phone endpoints and controls this but monitoring the RTP which is fine by me. but as for the carrier it works fine.
