For pbxnsip, "intercom" means extension calling without having the other party picking up the call. That means the call immediately gets connected, it is two-way audio. Typical scenario is the James Bond ordering the 3 PM tea from Mrs. Monneypenny. "Monneypenny, where is my tea?" - "Immediately, Mr. Bond".
It depends a little bit on the handset type if that works or not. Not all SIP phones support this.
That is one of the best answers I have ever gotten.... I will have to get started with pbxnsip right away then....
Thanks Guys!

So I have a seemingly stupid question; before I start selling this thing everywhere, I was wonering what the pbxnsip definition is of "Intercom"... On all the TDM systems I have sold, "Intercom" is defined as a call from internal phone to internal phone. "Hands-Free" or "Voice-Call" is defined as a call from internal phone to internal phone, without the recipient having to physically touch the phone....
I was wondering in pbxnsip, which one is defined as wich, as I have a client who wants to test a system at a tiny branch office, but the system is fairly useless as the base license does not include intercom; ie calls from extension to extension.... hmmmm
Multi-Tenant Server - Windows or Linux?
in General Setup
Posted
Hi Everyone, I will be setting up some new servers for our hosted Vodia platform, mainly because recordings are piling up, and more disk space is needed. I have smaller Vodia systems on prem on windows, and have had a couple of 1000+ user multi-tenant setups, but most of our own systems are on Linux, Debian to be precise.
Does anyone have any opinion about which platform they would use? I have Server 2022 licenses kicking around, so the license cost is not a factor.
I figure ease of manageability is a huge plus on windows, but uptime and security may go to Linux as the winner. I am looking forward to hearing other peoples opinions on it!
Thanks
