  1. Right. When you call a hunt group the PBX will not call the cell phone. We believe that this would cause a major chaos in most installations. Only direct calls to the extensions make the cell phone ring.

Bill also notes that this didn't work for him for the auto attendant either.

Please confirm; if someone rings into the main line with auto attendent, and selects an extension, ..can it not ring both the cell phone and extension at that point? This is what we really need.

I will pay for support ticket now, if this is needed.

  2. Cell phones are called in parallel to the extension call. The idea is that calls to the desktop phones often fail because the user is away from the desk, but available on the cell phone. If the user is near the desk, he will use the desktop phone. That is why the desktop phone and the cell phone should ring at the same time. The cell phone is delayed, because many times the cell phone mailbox will pick up.

The whole mechanism works only for calls that go directly to the extension. That means calls to the hunt or agent group do not include the cell phone. This is neccessary because otherwise people would go crazy because of calls to their cell phone and disconnected cell phones would cause many calls to to to cell phone mailboxes.

This is the same problem I have, and outlined in the following discussion. We are still digging for the solution.

  3. Hmm. We really don't do anything special. And we are using this every day (can't live without it any more).

Maybe you have to put a "1" in from of the cell phone number (Callcentric expects numbers to be in the 1xxxxxxxxxx style). Also, there is a feature in Callcentric that limits the number of calls, maybe that stops you from making another call.

I don't think it is CallCentric related. I tried with another inbound number (ipKall), which is just inbound direct to the auto attendant (no trunk or dial plan), and when trying an extension it also won't ring the cell. Does that narrow the issue?

  4. The the second pattern is the problem, see http://wiki.pbxnsip.com/index.php/Dial_Plan. Well, it might be tricky to get star codes through the PBX. Try the pattern "9\*([0-9]*).*".

Another method would be using the replacement pattern to generate a star. For example, make the prefix 99 replace a star:

    Pattern: 99*

    Replacement: sip:\*\1@\r

We put our specific settings, exactly as CallCentric stated on the page your site refers to. Link: http://www.callcentric.com/support/device/pbxnsip We don't have any special requirement. We just need your recomended default so that the system will call the cell phone and extension at the same time.

I delete that line completely now, but it still did not solve the problem. I would think there is a big clue in the fact that it works (rings the cell phone) when you call an extension from inside, but not from an outside line in.

Can you give me a simple config for the dial plan so it will work (if that is the problem)? Thank you, Steve

  5. I have tried different options, and reduced to the most basic, and it still does the same. It only forwards to the cell phone when called from direct sip phone connection, but not in from an outside line.

The redirection settings now are blank now, and the following are the settings in the dial plan.

    100 CallCentric

    100 CallCentric 9(\*)([0-9]*).*

    200 CallCentric 9*

Odd that it works fine via a direct connection, from one extension to either another extension or main auto-attendant (using X-lite), but not from an outside line. (I tested with two outside numbers, one from CallCentric and one Ikall, with same result.)

    Thank you, Steve

  6. Calls into auto attendent then to extension, from external lines, don't forward to cell phone, however if you call directly from one extension to another it will ring their extension then their cell phone no problem.

I don't know why when simply doing the same, but calling in via external phone on the main trunk, that the system won't ring the cell phone. Just after the point where the attendant says "Please hold the line.", then incoming caller is immediately disconnected.

    Thank you for your help.
