  1. Is it possible to set the number presented to a called party per extension?

My SnomOne is using IP authenticated SIP trunks with a DDI range.

I understand that the number presented would need to be from within the range but it would not necesarily be

the DDI allocated to that extension.

    Thanks

    Peter

  2. I have my Snom One Soho on a LAN than consists only of my laptop, a Netgear POE switch and 2 Snom 370 phones. There is no connection to the internet.

I managed to get the phones to auto register although they do seem to go many reboots before settling down.

Subsequently I defined a 12 button layout for the phones and they accordingly, uploaded the new files. Again there appeared to be an inordinate number of reboots and this time only one of the phones settled down (they are both set up identically).

I feel there is something amiss somewhere.

I have attached the logfile which shows the mutiple attempts at registration. If anyone can see what is going I'd be most grateful.

  3. Thank you Pablo for your advice in this. However I think I have found the solution. I had IP Routing set for when I had the Snom on another subnet. I didn't think this would affect the P&P so I had not changed it yet. On correcting this setting the P&P worked! Thanks again!

  4. Log in to the phone's web interface & select Advanced, then select the Update tab. Make sure the local IP address of the SoHo is in the field for the Setting URL, e.g. http://192.168.1.142/prov/snom360.htm

    As for the other settings:

    Update Policy: Update Automatically

    Settings refresh timer: 0

    PnP Config: On

    Then, reboot the phone.

If that does not take care of the issues, start from scratch: Click on ~~> Before Doing Plug and Play then ~~> Plug and Play

Thank you very much for your advice. I have tried the settings on the Snom 360 which did not appear to effect the problem. So, as you suggested, I went through my set up again but I cannot see anything I have left out. A couple of extra details which may be affecting the situation:

I have set the Snom One Soho as the DHCP server.

On my 'mini' LAN there is no router. Only my laptop, the Snom One Soho and the Snom Phones.

  5. I have my Snomone Soho connected to a Netgear LAN switch (FS108P), along with my laptop and a Snom 360.

My SnomOne Soho is on v4.5.0.1090 and the phone is version 8.7.3.7.

There is nothing else connected to my 'mini' LAN.

My Soho log shows 'joined multicast'

When I connect the phone I see the attached logs on the phone and the Soho which appear to indicate the Plug and Play is working.

However the phone does not download any information and does assume the extension number to which I have set the 'Bind to MAC address' of the phone.

Can anyone help me or point out the error of my ways?

  6. I have tried entering http://[fe80::204:13ff:fe44:8682] in my address bar but to no avail.

I have also connected my laptop directly to the Snom One Soho ethernet port and running a wireshark

It appears to show the address as 10.4.50.4:

    "2 4.351450 SnomTech_44:86:82 Broadcast ARP Who has 192.168.2.1? Tell 10.4.50.4"

but this does not work either.

I'd be grateful for any assistance. At the moment the unit is useless.

    Peter

  7. I have made a rather dumb error and cannot log on to my Snom One Soho having lost the IP address entered.

Is it possible to default the unit?

My unit has a pin hole on the left hand side, is this access to a default button?

    Peter

  8. OK, so I can see 'Joined Multicast' in my logfile on booting up the Snom One Soho.

    I then clear the log.

In Logging I set 'Log General Events', 'Log SIP events' and 'Log TFTP and PnP events' to '8'. All the rest I set to '0'.

Also I turn on 'Log SUBSCRIBE/Notify' to 'YES'.

I put my Snom 360 MAC code in 'Bind to MAC Address'.

I then default my Snom 360.

Then I power down and reconnect the 360.

The phone boots up and stops at the Time Zone setting.

The log on the Snom One Soho is empty!

I feel I'm missing something very basic here.

  9. Thank you for referring me to the logging information.

Accordingly I have gathered some data:

    1) I can see 'Joined Multicast' in the logfile.

    2) On the Snom360 that I am using I can see in the SIP log:

    Sent to udp:224.0.1.75:5060 at 29/6/2012 07:14:11:876 (441 bytes):

    Accept: application/url

    Contact: <sip:10.0.0.114:2049>

    Content-Length: 0

    3) On the SnomONE Soho I have setting the logging for 'Log TFTP and PNP Events' to 7. I then connect my Snom 360.

Once it has come to life and booted up I go to check the logfile to see if there has been any PnP activity but the logfile is empty.

I feel there is something wrong with my testing procedure.

Any and all assistance and advice as always appreciated.

  10. Joined multicast group x.x.x.x is logged at level 8 of "Log General Events". If that category is set to 8, then you should see this log message.

Otherwise, you should see "Could not join multicast group x.x.x.x". This is logged at level 0. So, you should see this message in case of the failure.

Obviously, 2 things you can verify -

    1. Check the SIP logs on the phone. That should show you "SUBSCRIBE" message (http://downloads.snom.net/snomONE/docs/PnP_Multicast.swf)
    2. Check the PBX SIP trace to see if the SUBSCRIBE message is in the PBX log

If you don't see the 1st one, then obviously the phone is not doing the multicast PnP.

If you see the 1st one but not the 2nd one, then you know there is some issue(i.e., blocking the multicast) in the network or the network interface of the PBX server.

    Hi,

Thanks for your response. I can now see 'Joined Multicast' in the logfile.

I would like to check the PBX SIP log but cannot see how to access it. Could you tell where I can get it?

  11. I don't see to be getting very far with my Plug and Play issue. I guess I need to check 2 things first:

    1) Are my Snom phones broadcasting multicast?

    2) Is my Snom One Soho listening?

    1) Well, since I am using more than one phone and they running on the lastest firmware (8.7.3.7) I think it is safe to assume

the issue is not with the phones.

    2) I have selected the SIP Multicast option however I would like to see that it is on in one of the event logs. So far I have not been able to find

'Joined Multicast' to confirm it is on.

The third possibility is that my LAN is preventing the mutlicast from working. Can someone help me in checking this possibility?

  12. Hi,

I have entered 'ln -sf pbxctrl-sheeva-4.5.0.1075 pbxctrl' but I do not think anything has changed.

Below shows my entering of the instruction and then an LS to look at the folder.

    root@snomONE-SoHo:/usr/local/snomONE # ln -sf pbxctrl-sheeva-4.5.0.1075 pbxctrl

  13. Hi,

I have made progress on the upgrade. I have managed to download the 4.5 upgrade file.

Doing an LS I can see the file in my snomONE directory.

The problem comes when I attempt to make the file executable. I have entered ln -sf 4.5.0.1075 pbxctrl.

Whilst the system doesnt complain I'm not anything has happened.

I then try the next step, ie, chmod a+x pbxctrl. This gives me 'cannot operate on dangling symlink `pbxctrl''

I stop and start the unit anyway but the checking the status page I can see the upgrade has not taken (it is still 4.3.0).

Can anyone see where I have gone wrong?

    Peter

  14. I would avoid using *.pool.ntp.org for the time sync. You can instead use any local time server or the ntp.snom.com.

If you can ssh to the soho, you can use the standard linux command(As root, /usr/sbin/ntpdate ntp.snom.com) to sync the time.

I have managed to log in using SSH. Could you give me more detailed guidance on how to enter an NTP site for the time synching?

    Thanks,

    Peter
