Mitch Peagram
I am trying to install Vodia PBX V5.2.3 on a Windows 7 PC (we had a SNOM One Mini but it went up in smoke, trying this as a quick fix until we gat a new one). Is there a noddy guide on setting the system up? I have muddled through but can't get our SNOM320 phones to provision so that I can test if installation works. The original SNOM One was installed by a third party.
Vodia PBX
There is information on http://www.vodia.com/documentation/install_win when you are done with 5.2.3 just upgrade to 5.2.5 from there. For those who are using older Windows version it is better to install some much older versions like 5.0.1 and upgrade to the latest from there, as some of the 5.2 versions are incompatible with XP. Should not be the case for Windows 7, but just in case someone reads this with a older version...
Mitch Peagram
I had already followed installation instructions. The only part of that that I am not sure about is at the end where it states "In Windows it is essential that you configure the Windows Firewall to allow the PBX process". It does not tell you what needs to be configured, can you please help. I have upgraded to V5.2.5 What I was looking for was a setup guide for the system after installation. Vodia PBX
Oh ok. There is plenty of information about the Windows Firewall. The point is to allow the pbxctrl.exe process to communicate with the network. I don't think that the installer can take care about this (would kind of defeat the whole purpose of the firewall); at least the Vodia PBX installer definitively does not do that for you. So you have to open the Windows firewall and add the process. For the local server that's it.
Mitch Peagram
Thanks, it was all down to port forwarding in the firewall. Generally when a program installs on a Windows PC it configures the necessary port forwarding, as Vodia PBX does not do this it would have been nice to have had a list of the required ports and protocols. It would also be nice to have a list of port forwarding requirements for the router firewall to enable access to the SIP provider. As when playing around to get the device to work I'm not certain if I have opened too much. Apart from that it works OK now and will do as a stop gap until we can get a Vodia Mini PBX Are there any suppliers/distributors in the UK/Europe or do we have to purchase from the States? Vodia PBX
You can just buy a BeagleBone, or if you like you can also get a Rasperri PI (plus the enclosure you like the most). If you get us the SSH port, we can install it from the U.S. and save the time & money for shipping this over the Atlantic.
