  1. Well, this is supposed to work... Maybe a problem after updating from a version that supported only one personal greeting to a version with multiple greetings?

After closer inspection, it would appear that the greetings and auto attendants were moved with the domain but no longer being used. We did upgrade from 2.1.5.2355 to 2.1.5.2357. Could that be the culprit? In any event is there an "easy" way to re-associate the files?

    Thanks

  2. We've used the domain backup utility to move domains from server to server. One thing that seems to happen is that the personal greetings do not move with the domain or so it seems. For example, I just moved a customer to a new server and voice mails are now using the “generic” computer generated greeting (“this is the voice mail of…”) instead of our personally recorded messages.

Does the utility "grab" the recordings and Auto Attendants during the tar process or are the personal recordings left behind. If they are included in the backup process, how do I configure them to be used again? If not, perhaps this can be a feature request for future releases?

    Thanks in advance.

  3. No, there is no difference between Windows and Linux:
    • generated: This directory is generated by the PBX during the PnP process, it contains the files generated for specific MAC addresses.
    • html: This directory is optional and may override the built-in html web pages
    • spool: This is used for spooling emails. The directory is created when the first email goes out
    • tftp: This directory must be created manually if you want to put files for the provisioning process there (e.g. firmware)

    Just what I needed ...

    Thanks

  4. I have built a test box for the Linux version of PBXnSIP (2.1.5.2357) according to the WIKI. I have noticed a difference in the directory structure from that of a Windows installation. The Windows installations have the following directories where the Linux installation does not:

    generated

    html

    spool

    tftp

Would this be due to the fact that the Windows installs have been upgraded from previous versions?? Are the missing directories necessary for proper operation? The Linux installation is a fresh install with no previous versions of PBXnSIP.

    Thanks in advance.

  5. Are you running WIN? if so, I've posted in best practices some of the technical specifications and performance measurements of a reasonably busy mid sized 45 extension system. We've never seen 10% utilization on a single AMD 3100 series processor with a full PRI (23 channels in use). The "Don'ts" are many in regards to maximizing realtime performance for such things as PBX systems and video editing systems. Would it be possible one of the "don'ts" have been violated? (Software Raid control vs. real Disk controller) or something like that.

Thank you for pointing me in the direction of best practices. Looking at the checklist I would have to say I am in compliance :D

  6. Affinity: the default is that the process uses CPU 1. I guess you are not using a virtual machine, where CPU affinity becomes "relative"...

It would be interesting if the call is in pass-through mode. Then all packets should be forwarded "immediately", this should actually reduc ethe jitter compared to previous versions.

    No. Not using Virtual Machine.

Can you explain what you mean by pass-through mode, please?

  7. We have customers complaining about drop out (packet loss perception in the RTP) during calls. Is this expected with the media CPU being around 25% using version 2.1.4.2345 Win32? Has anyone else experienced this? We have been above 25% Media CPU on older versions without this issue occurring.

Our server is Dual CPU 2GB RAM. Will the exe "span" the CPUs or will it use one? Would using the affinity option be of any benefit?

    Thanks in advance!

  8. Okay, we identified two possible reasons for a crash. One was obviously a problem with a session reference in the CDR list - if there was a http session that times out, the PBX would use a reference to that session which possibly accesses memory that is not available any more. The other possible reason for a crash was a similar problem with buttons that needed translations (e.g. for the DND button, and agent login/logout state).

There is a new build at http://www.pbxnsip.com/download/pbxctrl-2.1.5.2355.exe (manual upgrade). It would be great if we could verify that this was a problem.

The issue remains with 2.1.5.2355. Shortly after sending a CDR email, the service stopped. Installed on our test system Windows 2003 server. Last log entry:

    [6] 20080105000325: Sending performance email to <someone@xxxxxxxx.com>

    [6] 20080105000325: Sending CDR email to <someone@xxxxxxxxx.com>

    [8] 20080105000327: DNS: Add dns_cname smtp.xxxxxx-messaging.com mail-something.name.com (ttl=3600)

    [8] 20080105000332: SMTP: Connect to xx.xx.xxx.xxx:25

  9. I currently use the $.log syntax to create daily log files for PBXnSIP, which is a very nice feature. However, if the service is restarted for some reason the log file will be over written if the original logfile is not renamed. Is there a way to prevent this from happening? If not, can this be considered for a future release? Some situations require a quick restart of the pbxnsip service and in our haste we forget to rename the log.

    Thanks in advance.

  10. Well, it can really happen that there are "junk" calls. That is the purpose of the garbage collector. There should just not be too much junk on the street.

    OK.

What is the definition of a "junk" call? Would this be a call that somehow was incomplete, network outage, ??? If this information is placed in a log file, how do I see it? There are currently 8 of these files on the server. 7 from yesterday (the day of the upgrade) and 1 from today. Before the upgrade it was conceivable to see hundreds .....

    Thanks in advance!

  11. I would be only concerned if you are running latest release...

I have just installed version 2.1.3.2336(Win 32) and have found a few expired.txt files in the PBX directory.

    Example 1:

    Type:

    From:

    To:

    Diversion:

    Extension:

    Trunk:

    Start:

    Connected:

    Domain:

    Call-ID:

    IVR-State: stage0

    Loop:

    Reference:

    State:

    Example 2:

    Type:

    From:

    To:

    Diversion:

    Extension:

    Trunk:

    Start:

    Connected:

    Domain:

    Call-ID:

    IVR-State: stage2

    Loop:

    Reference:

    State:

    Thanks in advance!

  12. Ok. What log would I look into? The one that is accessible from within pbxnsip or does it write to another file. I'm seeing a very high number of these files.

    Thank you.

Those files were collected by the garbage collector inside the PBX - should not happen but if it happens, it writes a log so that later we can find out why. You can just remove these files.
  13. Is it necessary to add DisableUserTOSSetting=0 to the registry of a Windows 2003 server when deploying PBXnSIP?

    The complete registry path is:

    MyComputer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\TcpIp\Parameters

  14. I've done that in our "test" environment but company policy requires our own RO community string in the production equipment. Perhaps this can be included in a future release?

    Thanks

Can't you change it to "public" in order to get things working?
  15. I can get a response from pbxnsip via snmpget:

    [root@nms-1 ~]# snmpget -v 1 -c public 10.1.0.12 .1.3.6.1.4.1.25060.1.3

    SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.25060.1.3 = INTEGER: 636

    [root@nms-1 ~]# snmpget -v 1 -c public 10.1.0.12 .1.3.6.1.4.1.25060.1.6

    SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.25060.1.6 = INTEGER: 11

How do I change the community string from public to something else?

    Thanks

It should work. Did you turn on snmp logging and see what the messages were there?

Log SNMP events: YesNo I usually set the log level to 9 and just turn on snmp and see what you get when you poll it.

  16. I have several servers that I would like to pull PBXnSIP information via SNMP. I have a working NMS system that I would like to use. Using the information from the WIKI SNMP document, I cannot get the desired results. I used the free version of PRTG and was able to pull the information but do not want to have to purchase additional software packages to monitor PBXnSIP. Why would I not be able to get the same information via a SNMP compliant Network Manager?

  17. I've searched the forum and wiki so hopefully, this is not a duplicate request.

I have changed our pbxnsip application through the appearance setup to reflect our domain name. All works fine with the exception of the help link. Whenever we try the link, it is appended with /help/help.php, so that the link reads http://<our.domain.com>/help/help.php which does not exist. We would like to have this link point to our support page on our corporate web site. How do I go about changing the help link within pbxnsip to reflect our support page url?

    Thanks in advance!
