Okay, we analyzed the problem. The SMTP server requests a client certificate from the PBX and what the PBX sends does not make the server happy. Is it an option to put a certificate on the PBX that the server trusts? You don't have to buy a certificate; if you can generate your own organization certificate and make the SMTP server trust your organizations CA, then the problem should disappear.
But I think it makes sense to add an option to turn the SSL support off in email. Seems to be a major pain in the neck.
Generating a certificate was the next step if the "work around" did not function as planned. I will agree however, that the ability to disable SSL support would be a good idea.
Out of curiosity, how is it that the my Windows server that is at an earlier version of 3.x (3.0.0.2990) is able to send through the same email server? Could it be that SSL support in that version is off by default?
Thank you for your help!

OK. So for now, the work around is to disable TLS for the version 3.x problem server. This was done by putting the following line in the sendmail access file:
Srv_Features:Sever.sending-mail.com S
I can now receive CDRs and messages attached to emails from the server. As stated above, this is a work around while waiting for the fix.

??? Still the 503 message ???
Are you sure the upgrade worked? Do you see the build number in the status screen?
Build number from the status screen 3.0.1.3012 (Linux).
When I try to use the "try me" link from the domain settings page or an attempt to send message as email:

I only have one other server that is on version 3.0 (win32) that was upgraded accidentally due to the packaging error. It is rev. 3.0.0.2990 and seems to be playing nicely with the same email server.
Edited to add: all of the Windows servers will be migrated to Linux eventually so it is of most importance that 3.0 works properly.
-
Still receiving the same error after applying new build.
-
I think the error was found (another thread), check out version http://pbxnsip.com/protect/pbxctrl-3.0.1.3012.exe.
I don't really want to touch the Windows Server right now. Live customers. The Linux server is a test server. Is there a RedHat Linux update?
-
I think most SMTP servers do not require a client certificate, so I don't think that is the problem. We just need a test account then we can give it a try.
New development!
Discovered that the Windows version that is working is 3.0.0.2990 (Win32) ---- able to send messages
Linux version that is 3.0.0.2998 (Linux) ---- getting the error messages
Hope this helps

We are looking into this. There is a problem somewhere.
Could it have anything to do with <http_cert_file/> <http_tls_web/> in the pbx.xml file? These are not set, obviously.
Voice mail messages are being sent through the server to customer email servers without issue. I am receiving system messages such as CPU Limit, for example.
-
Since upgrading to version 3.x (one is Linux and one is Windows), I have not been receiving the CPU load emails that are sent out daily. Checking the logs on the email server, I find there is a SSL error message. What has changed in the new version of PBXnSIP that deals with SSL/TLS? All of our version 2.x servers use the same email server and the CPU load emails have been coming through just fine.

I would not manually add them. Just change a global setting from the web interface, this will rewrite the pbx.xml file. Then either edit it there (need restart) or use the web interface to change it (described on the wiki page I mentioned above).
That did it. Thank you!
-
This is the server that inadvertently got upgraded. Is there a chance that the variable to which you refer is not there?
After checking several of our servers:
Windows 2003 servers (ver 2.1.6.2450)
Upgraded to 3.x - pbx.xml does not have the email_<variables> added.
Linux servers (pbxctrl-rhes4-2.1.14.2498)
Upgraded to 3.x - pbx.xml has the email_<variables> added
Can I add the variables manually to the xml file?
-
That would be "email_address_change".

Ehh.... they are hidden, but available. Check the pbx.xml file for names starting with "email_". You can change them in the pbx.xml file (which would require a restart) or use the trick in http://wiki.pbxnsip.com/index.php/Global_Configuration_File.
Okay, I found the email_ settings in the xml file but which one specifically will turn off these alerts: "Source address for sip:" and still allow me to receive the CPU stats that are sent out nightly?
Thanks
-
Well first of all this is a event that you should check. Typically it is a sign that the extension is behind a router that is not suitable for SIP.
In 2.1 the only way you can get rid of these messages is to use a rule on your email client that moves them to the trash can. We added flags in 3.0 where you can select what messages you want to receive.
Where are the flags located?
-
Fair enough! Thank you.
I receive these email messages "Source address for sip:102@<somedomain>.com has changed to udp:<ipaddress>:6702" How do I disable the email alerts without disabling other alerts and emails that I receive as admin?
Thanks in advance

I have a small issue
I downloaded what I thought was version 2.1.14.2498.exe on Friday morning (08-22-2008) for a normal upgrade. This was the full exe, not the pbxctl upgrade. I went through the normal routine of installation and was asked to reboot. I couldn't do that because it is a hosted environment and getting close to business hours. The restart of the server (Windows 2003 Enterprise) was scheduled for this morning (Sunday 8-24-2008).
Imagine my surprise when bingo! there is version 3.0!!!!!!! I double checked the exe thinking I downloaded the wrong one but it is labeled 2.1.14.2498.exe. How did this happen?? We do not like to deploy a new version unless it is fully tested on our test server. Now I have an untested version of PBXnSIP in the field.
What type of issues am I to expect if I attempt to downgrade?
In the future, disable the download page until all of the links are correct and tested.

We have encountered another problem with call recording. If the Admin email address is entered in the logging page for CPU reports, and someone in a different domain on the same server sets their domain to record all outgoing calls, the Admin email account is notified that there is a recording available in addition to the party that set the recording up originally. We are using versions 2.1.12.2489 (Linux) and 2.1.14.2498 (Linux). Is there a way to disable this for the Admin and still receive the CPU reports for the server?
-
Well we proposed a MIB, but nobody responded - http://forum.pbxnsip.com/index.php?showtopic=112.
Tried that ..... Error message is below. The error occurrs when I try to load the MIB into the management software.

What OS are you on? Maybe want to try it out?
Using CentOS 5.1 and 5.2 on different servers. It is the same as RHEL5.

3.0 will include an option --pidfile <fn> where the PBX will write the PID of the PBX process (not in Windows).
We added the following line to the init.d script to create the pid:
lsof -t -c pbxctrl > /var/run/pbxctrl.pid
This will suffice until release 3.0
Thanks

Yea, we made some progress... The emails with WAV attachments are now assembled in the (low prio) email thread. That makes it possible to send out pretty long recordings as well, so that we can start dreaming about sending out every conversation recording out by email and get if off the file system.
So have you had any PBXnSIP performance issues on a server with multiple domains and recordings being emailed to the customer? These recordings would be fairly large in size with recording times going to 60 minutes. This has become a major sticking point for one of our customers.
Thanks in advance.

Reviving an older thread:
Can you tell me what the impact to PBXnSIP would be if we had 20 phones recording up to an hour using feature codes and then emailing the end user? Using 2.1.13.2494 and Linux? Also once the email is sent, is the recording flushed from the mailbox?
Thanks in advance!
Answered my own question on the deletion ................ It depends on the setting for the extension. Still need to know about the recordings though.
-
No. Actually, sending recordings as email scares me (even in the year 2008):
One hour recording = 3600 * 13200/8 = 6 MB.
Maybe you can fix the problem with a little Linux script (sorry for the meta code):
while [ 1 ]; do
sleep 10
for i in 'ls'; do
if [ -older than 2 minutes ] # To make sure that this file is currently not being written
mail -s "Recording $i" <$i user@domain.com
sleep 1
rm $i
fi
done
done

We changed something for 2.1.13 (see http://wiki.pbxnsip.com/index.php/Release_Notes_2.1.13). There is a Windows build available for this version, check out http://www.pbxnsip.com/protect/pbxctrl-2.1.13.2494.exe).
When will this be ready for GA and Linux?
Thanks
Agent Queue Statistics
in Agent Group Setup
Posted
I upgraded a server to 3.0.0.2998 Windows version. Since the upgrade, a large customer on the server has stopped getting statistics in the report that is emailed for his agent queues. I also have Linux versions 3.0.0.2998 that exhibit the same behavior. Is there currently a fix for this?
Thanks in advance.
