on the actuall trunk i change the codec to use (override codec prefrences) G711 and it works fine

why doesnt it to begin with use G711? instead it looks like its trying to use G729, and maybe my phone doesnt support G729 thats why i cant hear anything?

Try to lock the codec down. Maybe the provider is not able to deal with asymetric codecs.

this is how i have it set up

i have the same setting on all other trunks and it works fine, what do you suggest i do?

i want a solution thats going to work fine all over, i dont want based on certain phones to have to change anything

and also for some reason when i call from a linksys phone it works fine, but when calling from a polycom phone it doesnt work

is it possible the polycom phones first try to use G729?

below is logfile of 2 calls, 1 is making a cal form a polycom that had 1-way audio, and 1 is a linksys that worked fine

i have the same setting on all other trunks and it works fine, what do you suggest i do?

i want a solution thats going to work fine all over, i dont want based on certain phones to have to change anything

and also for some reason when i call from a linksys phone it works fine, but when calling from a polycom phone it doesnt work

Try locking all calls down (in the admin/ports section). This is the default for new installations anyway.

is it possible the polycom phones first try to use G729?

That will not make any difference. The PBX does not respect the codec preference of the UA.

This is was resolved (after setting the lock codec under the ports page). The issue was net2phone was choosing g729, given an option of 711,729,etc.

BTW, in order to avoid transcoding, now we have set the trunk to do 711 only.
