Changing calls ANI

Recommended Posts

We have version 3.4.0.3201 (Linux)

We need to change the caller ID ie. name display and phone number for our outbound calls.

After many attempts through all the possible options of configuration, we were able to change the name display with the trunk configuration field "Display Name:", but we were never able to change the phone number with the ANI fields (Account, Domain, Trunk)... The number appearing on the calls is always the account number (DID) of the VOIP carrier.

The VOIP carrier is Broadvox and according to their tech support they accept modified ANI...

Currently, our configuration looks like that:

- Account ANI is empty

- Domain Default ANI is empty

- Trunk Display Name is set, but does not always shows on calls !? (Can't see why, but it did appear...)

- Trunk Global is yes; ANI is set to a different number than the account number.

I can attach some log extract, but there is a lot of them for each call, so I would like to know which part is relevant to our problem.

Thanks in advance!

If you set the ANI on the account then, the PBX should send that as the ANI. Check what goes out to the provider from PBX in the INVITE header. Note that if, on the trunk, "RFC3325" option is chosen, then PBX sends the trunk account number in the "From" header and extension's ANI on the "P-Asserted" header

You can play with this "Remote Party/Privacy Indication:" to make sure that the PBX is sending what you are really looking for.

Well, this is a endless topic, especially when redirecting the calls. Every provider does it differently. In the next major release, we will offer text-programmable settings for this problem, so that you can put anything in the headers in question. For version 3, the only thing you can do is to "play" with the header presentation setting for the trunk (RFC3325, No-Display, and so on) and see which one works.
