Steve B
I was at a customers site that I did the wiring on and their voicemail system (Mitel) left a message for them when it had the wrong pin number on the login attempts. Is this a feature in snomONE that I missed or can it be added?
Jesserownser
As part of a security strategy the VM system shall limit the number of failed login attempts. We should define a policy so that after the first 3 failed login
Vodia PBX
Well if you disable the VM after thee attempts, it is very easy to DoS the mailbox. I dont this is a good solution.

Don't disable the mailbox after 3 failed attempts - just disconnect the caller after 3 failed attempts.
Vodia PBX
Oh you mean hang up? I think there is a timeout, but it could be like 5 minutes.
Steve B
Oh you mean hang up? I think there is a timeout, but it could be like 5 minutes. I was thinking more of on the lines, of hang up after a user defined amount of bad tries and post a message to that user's voice mail inbox that says something like "Your mailbox has been accessed X amount of times from extension number XXX with the incorrect pin and the call was terminated." This would allow the violated user to know the account was trying to be accessed and where it was from.
Vodia PBX
Actually this feature would also be useful or even more useful in other scenarios where the PIN is required. For example, when the dial plan requires that the use enters the PIN or when someone calls from a cell phone into the system and the caller ID has to be authenticated with the PIN.
