  1. Can you add a Blaser or even predictive dialer. Blaster where we can import phone numbers and send out the calls to those phone numbers and when they pick or voicemail picksup it send a wav file message about new products or any news.

    hi,

NCH IVR app does this too.

Like was said, thanks to sip there are a LOT of tools out there.

  2. Unfortunately there is no standard aboud DND. The IETF probably does noch spend time on such "trivial" issues... Maybe XMPP is the answer.

I see on another post that DND status can be shown by lighting the phones BLF lamp. Good idea.

Also, I was at the pbxnsip training and heard that to make a pragmatic phone system you can't always adhere strictly to IETF.(?) I thot i heard that... ;-)

    Not a big deal.

    thanks for the input,

  3. we are running 3.0.1.3023 (Linux), which is the latest and greatest on the web site

    hi,

ok, i see i wasn't so incredibly dumb wanting an indication of other phone's DND status! ;-)

good idea to light the blf. gives the idea that the phone is busy.

So this is supposed to work in the latest?

  4. yes I see my own phone is in DND on the display however nobody in the office knows my phone is on DND. everyone is monitoring my extension and its not light up or anything.

needs to light up to give people indication they are on the phone or in DND mode.

When you log in as admin and click on list of accounts you can see the DND status by the big red X.

Something like this available on the PAC or usser portal might be nice...thinking out loud.

  5. I just got back from the PBXnSIP training and it was mentioned that the 3.x branch supports video in a limited mannor. I was trying the Counterpath XPro client but am not having luck establishing call or adding video to existing call.

From my other vendor trainings this is a design problem of the PBX. When using a B2BUA architecture the phone system needs to know what each option is in the SIP and RTP streams. If it does not know it drops the info from the relayed stream.

    Is anyone playing with this?

    Thanks,

    Isaac

    Hi Isaac,

I think I tested this out ok but I will again just to verify. I thot it did work just like pbxnsip said.

My opinion is that the PAC could show the DND status of other phones.

  7. i think the record button is freaking cool. im sad to see it go.

Something that made snom a little more unique than the Generic SIP phones out there.

The new 820 looks more generic to me, with the lack of the record button and the 12 programmable buttons.

    But it does look cool

    Hi,

First I should say I only recommend snom phones and really like them.

I have to agree with the record button...i think it differentiates the snom.

Also, i thot the 820 looks a lot like the linksys form factor...(which incidentally i don't like. ;-(

But I did get to play with an 820 and they do feel nice with a brilliant color display. Miss all the blf though.

  8. If everything is in the LAN, I would keep it to G.711 and make life easier. Though using Patton on both ends might be easy.

On a side note, you can use the auto attendant to detect the fax tone and then send the call to the fax extension. A fax tone is like someone pressing "F" (instead of DTMF 0-9).

    I'll give that a try.

    I have a patton m-ata I'll use.

    Thanks for the input,

  9. Hi,

Just wanted to give some feedback on v3.2.0.3143

-NICE Calls graph that gives call total over time (this is a graph i thot would be nice for awhile)

-thanks for putting the current time on the status screen (that was quick!)

-the new email tab gives a lot of nice notifications.

    Thanks,

    matt

  10. Top shows you what processes are active, how much memory is used and all kinds of other interesting stuff about the healthyness of the system. The command line is just "top" <enter>.

    Hi,

Ok, just had the cs410 running overnight.

Once again the LAN port failed to respond after approx. 10 minutes...but i left the cs410 run overnight.

This morning on a whim I plug the cat5 cable into the WAN port and it works...

    So...a faulty LAN port?

  11. If you cannot ping the system anymore we are talking about a problem at the lower levels. Maybe you can log in through SSH right after startup and then start top to see if we have a problem with the memory, CPU or something else looking strange. Anything else strange? If the network in good shape?

    Hello,

I have the same problem that the cs410 will run for a couple minutes then I can't even ping it.

Seems like 10 minutes or less.

After a reboot it works for about 10 minutes and becomes unpingable again.

(initially i also noticed that i needed to plug the cat5 cable into the WAN port for the unit to get an ip via dhcp.)

its a black unit. Just got it. I upgraded it to the latest firmware/image.

  12. It seems odd that pbxnsip goes 98% of the way to OCS integration and doesnt get the presense complete as you would expect OCS to behave (on call presense indication)

    :/

Maybe if we ask nicely pbxnsip will finish it up? ;-)

(the xlite presence nearly works too and when it does i'm pretty impressed)

At this moment I don't need it but i can see clients asking for it and it would be nice to have it working.

  13. WoWa you can write CDR directly to SQL now? thats awesome! i need the lowdown on that!

If you find out more about it, please post it here.

If that is to ms sql that is indeed a very good thing. Then we can use sql reporting sevices to get some very nice reports.

I emailed and they didn't know what i wanted. ;-)

  14. comdial, avaya, are the traditionals we see.

What are their hardest to overcome selling points?

We are a datacom company moving into telecom so I'm trying to get the background stuff.

I think we understand the SMB (small medium biz) requirements in most ways and see pbxnsip as filling the "keysystem" issues pretty well.

  15. WOW - Finding some really old posts to comment on heh? We've adding a few more SwitchVox shutdowns to the mix as we continue to focus on solutions. Our small 6 extension CS410 solution installs for about $6,200 and requires a additional a $1,200 first year warranty, 24x7 remote monitoring - 5 x 8 business hour alert program. First year margin is roughtly 70%.

Yes, there are many PBX firms that will beat that price everyday. We don't sell price.

who do you most often have to quote against?

    just curious.

  16. Hi Matt, :)

we run it here at ITaCS with pbxnsip from the first second. Starting in year 2006 with Exchange 2007 Unified Messaging Beta (+ later OCS beta) we get in contact with Snom & pbxnsip. We run our system since circa 08-2007 completly with OCS 2007 and ExchangeUM. (btw.: we dont sell any software or hardware - we are an MS focused consulting enterprise.)

In 2007 and 2008 we ran the whole Microsoft CeBIT (world's largest IT fair) booth on pbxnsip, OCS, ExUM, and a Mix of Snom and Tanjay's + Catalinas, RoundTables etc. Please take a look at this picture:

    CeBIT_2008_-_Microsoft_UCC_Infrastructure

Is this live enough for you? :)

And with this Wiki-Guide your first test setup might be suprisingly easy and painless, like the whole administrative part of pbxnsip.

conclusion: Yes it is a great combination, especially for SMB (if you mean Small and Mid-Size Bussiness).

    best regards

    Jan

    Hi Jan,

I expected you might reply. ;-) thanks.

    >>your first test setup might be suprisingly easy and painless, like the whole administrative part of pbxnsip.

After using several other pc based ippbx's I am amazed at the ease of use, smooth operation and stability of pbxnsip. We have been a snom and microsoft shop for some time so pbxnsip seems to be a good fit.

Yes, you answered my question well.

    Thanks,

    matt
