  1. When extension users log in to their personal PBXNSIP webpage they can only see the last 25 calls they made.

I looked but did not see any setting in PBXNSIP Admin pages to change this.

Can it be changed to a larger number or is it fixed at what looks like 25 calls?

    Hi,

Settings > General Defualt CDR listing size?

  2. SIP trunks are great! They treat signalling seperate from the audio, and the other side does not have to guess what the call state is.

There are some carriers sending "Your call has been disconnected. Please hang up... Your call has been disconnected. Please hang up... Your call has been disconnected. Please hang up...". How would the PBX know that it should hang up? No kidding.

Not to be annoying, but how do regular pbx's detect this?

however they do it we need to do it...

cause i've never seen one that had this problem until i worked with voip... ;-)

we can complain about it but if we say we support pots then it should work?

  3. True enough Matt, but it's more annoying that had I ignored the instructions I'd still have a working box. I can't just put this one down to eBay. Most devices in my experience have some form of recovery from a failed firmware upgrade. It seems that this doesn't. I suppose I'm just glad it didn't happen on a client's kit.

    Richard,

I forget the specifics, but i don't think i could quite follow the instructions for upgrading either....hmm

    hate that.

  4. I would use SNMP to check if the service is still up and responsive.

For Linux, we have written a script that takes care about failover, especially hardware failover. It periodically checks if the service is still there and restarts it if that should not be the case (in Windows, that's the job of the service manager). In Windows, we would need to have a little script that checks after booting up if the virtual IP is configured and if not, grab it and start the service. Probably also no rocket science.

    hi,

isn't the failover scripts/whatever in plans for next version of windows ver of pbxnsip?

  5. For presence, the extension itself is responsible for updating the state.

I believe they have no effect when using the agent mode.

Well, the PBX is a "stupid" presence agent. We were thinking about making it a smart agent, which calculates the presence state based on registration and calls.

However, the whole presence story so far must be seen as a kind of sales hype; practically nobody used it in the PBX context (AFAIK). In the PBX environment, people look more for BLF and SLA. Maybe Microsoft OCS will change that.

    hello,

there is something wrong with the "presence" with xlite. (not sure if pbxnsip or xlite)

from my tests it just stopps working after awhile. i didn't dig deep.

  6. Well, got no where useful with UK sales, though they did offer me a discount on a licence with "upgrade protection" if I buy a new box. Apparently you need to have upgrade protection to allow you to download and upgrade to new firmware.

Sadly this now counts as the shortest lived bit of kit I've ever owned or even used in my 25 years of working in IT and comms. From plugging in, to dead beyond repair in under an hour. This also makes it, in terms of cost per hour of use, the most expensive bit of kit I've ever had my hands on too.

    I am extremely disappointed.

    Richard

    :(

    Richard,

    Sorry to hear that.

But in all fairness it was an ebay purchase.

  7. Matt,

I went looking for the Hyper-V info I was talking about earlier. I could not locate the

VHD image for download, nor the specific page I remember. I did locate references

to Hyper-V & VMware in the product comparison page and a Press Release for 7.0. As

for the VHD Images, I know that microsoft has been cracking down on use of the

evaluation copies of windows that the demos often use.

  8. We have another service on the server machine that causes pbxctrl to hiccup or delay

i/o when running. I do not want to lower the other services priority but would like to

have PBXnSIP preempt the other task.

I was wanting to have the pbx service run with an "Above Normal" task priority.

I am unable to renice the priority from taskman. Is there a way to get pbxctrl.exe

service to set a higher task priority at runtime by default?

    Thanks,

    Isaac

    what is the other process?

i get this feeling you need to fix the other process not pbxsip. (from some fixing i've done)

I'm also getting more of the opinion that an ippbx needs to be on its own box.

(well, maybe vm if that works ;-)

  9. Matt,

I am seeing more support across the board for virtualization of voip systems.

3CX has a big banner on their page stating not only do they support it but actually

recommend it. They have a Hyper-V container for download for eval.

Personally I am not a fan of Hyper-V or any other virtualization wich runs atop of

a full OS like windows. I like the ability to have a lightweight kernel & os like

VMware ESX / ESXi & XenServer. VMware is awesome however it is quite costly.

Citrix released XenServer Enterprise for free this month. The enterprise version

lets you dynamically limit cpu resources per slice and supports "vmotion" hot swaps

    like ESX all for free.

    Isaac,

    >3CX has a big banner on their page stating not only do they support it but actually

    recommend it.

Would you have a specific url for this? I can't seem to lay my eyes on it.

The reason 3cx may be a bit quick to promote virtual is because at the moment that is 3cx way to multi-tenant. I would like to see the marketing url on virtual.

I would have some reservations about virtual (for any ippbx) until I see it work in live environment or get respected voice speak on it.

  10. I am doing an initial test using FreeBSD 7.1-STABLE and 8.0-RELEASE-200902 kernels. I was looking to see if anyone

has implemented PBXnSIP/FreeBSD on a virtualization platform like XenServer? Now that the enterprise edition of

XenServer is free I was looking to do baremetal with Xen & BSD. I seem to recall durring training a provider using

PBXnSIP/FreeBSD kernel parameter kern.hz=1000 (under VMware?).

Currently I am using HP ML350 G5 w/E5300 series Quad core Xeon, Local SAS Storage, and GigE i/o with XenServer 5

The VM slice is configured with 1 cpu core no CPU cap,256mb ram. The kernel parameter is set kern.hz=100 and have

not noticed any side effects with initial basic testing.

    Thanks,

    Isaac

    Hi Isaac,

I've been wanting to test this when i have time (well, hyper-v).

We would use the ml350 too.

Pbxnsip says the virtualization will cause jitter.

  11. Hi,

    Good morning

Recently i bought Hosting version. But it does not have recording feature.

    I have downloaded one.

I am trying to record message for message loop.

But it says feature not available. Is there anything to do with licensing.

"*985002 +19259481700*0" to record the initial message, dial "*985002

+19259481700*1"-"*985002 +19259481700*9" to record the messages in the waiting

Note: WHEN I PRESS *98,IT SAYS RECORD MESSAGE.

I am not sure due to the mulitple domain,i have problem. Can you help us

    Thanks

    Raghu

if the extension your trying to record the message is 5002 just dial *985002*0 etc

    does that work?

  12. hi,

im testing the new pac. some feedback:

-it can be very sluggish to switch between extension screen and main...(and other screens) so long you think nothing happening...

-also, i can't seem to send an IM? (also, should it be able torecieve IM now?)

-minor: ext. screen has horizontal scroll bar which consumes the already precious little screen space unessarily.

-i hope there are plans for a bigger pac to act as a attendent console, as this one cant show many things at once.

-the ext. screen: the context menu doesn't work smooth/as one would expect. one click pops "intercome, call" menu. but you have to click exactly on another extension for it to go aaway...then click the other ext. for menu to pop for that ext. very unsmooth.

-it auto logs you out--little bit of a hassle if you run it all day.

    good:

-dnd graphic doesn't dissappear anymore when toggled

-being able to change the picture is very good
