Leonmeijer Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 I've read some posts about faxing and PBX but none of them helps me out. I want to setup an extension that can receive a fax and send the fax as TIFF or PDF file to an e-mail adres via the specified SMTP server. How can I do this? I know that a modem like Fritz! box can do this... but it must be a free solution. Quote

Michael Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 Yeah I've read that one before but... I actually want PBXnSIP to do this... is there a feature upcomming or will it *never* support fax? I use a near free solution from http://www.pikatechnologies.com/english/View.asp?x=539 that works with Asterisk. I wrote a PHP script that converts the tiff to PDF and emails it off as an attachment. FYI: I use Asterisk 1.4.22 as my media gateway for pbxnsip with a Sangnoma PRI card and it works perfectly (along with Pika's software fax DSP too). If you need the PHP script and my extensions.conf section that makes it all work, let me know and I can post it. Quote

At the moment I would say it is an application that can be easily and safely run as a external application. Quote
hosted Posted December 29, 2008 Report Posted December 29, 2008 Faxing over a SIP connection is not a good idea in the first place. We have had pretty good success with T.38 so far. If your going to use analog/T1 then you might as well get a free hylafax. Quote
