SFX Group Posted February 11, 2012 Report Posted February 11, 2012 Hi I have this loaded on a server that has a SYSLOG server running, however Snom ONE uses the SYSLOG server port (514 UDP), how do i turn this off? I didnt see anything in the setup about it using the SYSLOG server port???? Quote
Vodia PBX Posted February 12, 2012 Report Posted February 12, 2012 Hmm. We use the function "openlog" in the Linux environment (see openlog(3)). I believe that this function must somehow open the socket then; but this for sure depends on the OS setup. At least we are not explicitly opening a UDP socket and this we dont have control over it. pbx support Posted February 13, 2012 Report Posted February 13, 2012 As long as you did not setup anything on "Logging->Syslog server IP address:", PBX will not use syslog port. But if you set something there, then PBX uses default syslog port. At this moment, you can't change this port on the PBX (BTW, we recommend you to run the syslog server outside the PBX server, if you are planning to use the syslog feature for PBX) Quote
Ulderico Posted April 27, 2012 Report Posted April 27, 2012 In our case, we would definitely need to have a syslog server running on the same server where snom ONE is also running, and we would enable the snom's syslog to send logs to our syslog process. Besides performance considerations, why are you recommending not to have the syslog server on the same machine? Thanks for your help Quote
pbx support Posted April 27, 2012 Report Posted April 27, 2012 PBX may be using the same port(514) for the syslog client too (may be trying to force the server to be on a different system). Not sure if that is changed recently. That could give you trouble if both client and server on the same system. Give it a shot though. Quote
