mikec
we are having trouble applying the 8.7.3.10 firmware to our Snom 760 phones (currently fw8.7.2.9). When logging onto the phone web and entering the URL as per http://wiki.snom.com/Firmware/V8/760 the phone goes though the process to download and reboot showing the new f/ware then seems to download its current version 2.9 and apply that.... also it would be great if someone can explain how to roll out the update to all the phones automaticaly! many thanks
Vodia PBX
If you use PnP with the PBX, the PBX provisions the firmware link. You can set it in the PBX admin mode under settings/pnp. Just copy the link there and reboot the phone. If you want to remotely reboot (registered) phones, you can do that from the domain account list, at the bottom there is a item to reboot the selected phones. I am running the 4.5.0.1090 Epsilon Geminids (Win32) version on a test box (trying to PnP 720s) when I go to http://192.168.0.78/reg_pnpparm.htm there are no options there to update the firmware. Am I looking in the right place?
pbx support
You should see "Firmware for snom 720:" field in that page. The 4.5.0.1090 version comes with http://provisioning.snom.com/download/fw/snom720-8.7.2.9-SIP-r.bin. You can modify this field to point to the new 8.7.3.10 version (just copy the firmware download link here). Same goes for 760 too.
mikec
many thanks , i changed the path under the admin, settings, pnp for the 760 to http://provisioning.snom.com/download/fw/snom760-8.7.3.10-SIP-r.bin saved and rebooted the phone under the accounts but still showing as 2.9 on the phone log i did notice TLS server is off but under the PBX ,PnP its showing 'transport layer: TLS' 1/1/1970 00:00:47 [ALERT ] PHN: Config setup: code: 500, uri: http://127.0.0.1:80/dummy.htm 1/1/1970 00:00:47 [NOTICE] PHN: Fetching FW URL: http://provisioning.snom.com:80/snom760/snom760-firmware.htm 1/1/1970 00:00:47 [NOTICE] PHN: Fetching URL: http://provisioning.snom.com:80/snom760/snom760-firmware.htm 1/1/1970 00:00:47 [ERROR ] PHN: Warning: Certificate verification omitted. TLS Server authentication is switched off! do you think this is the problem?
pbx support
Couple of things - First check if you can download the http://provisioning.snom.com/download/fw/snom760-8.7.3.10-SIP-r.bin from your phone network. On the phone, Advanced->Upgrade page, make sure that "never update.." is not set. Sometimes, a reset(instead of a reboot) of the phone would help clear everything out and thereby making this process easier.
mikec
Many thanks all - it was because the provision server (on the phone , advance, update was pointing to http://provision.snom.com - changed this to my snomone ip and off it went!
