  1. I've written a windows VBScript that will make a simple failover solution for Windows.

Basically you have 2 servers running pbxnsip with the configuration you want. When the live server goes down the backup server will take on the IP address of the live server.

On the failover server you schedule the attached vbscript to run every minute:

    c:\heartbeat <live_server_ip> <live_server_mask> <live_server_gateway>

    example:

    c:\heartbeat 192.168.1.10 255.255.255.0 192.168.1.1

Everytime the script runs and the live server is up a windows event log will be written of success.

The instant the live server fails, the failover process will role into action:

#1-windows event log of failure will be written

#2-IP address change will be done and event log written.

    Roadmap Features:

-copy data from live server to failover on ongoing basis

    -automatically start the pbxnsip service

    Current Requirements:

-pbxnsip running on a second server with the configuration in place

-a pbxnsip license key with MAC address of master and backup server

This is beta, sloppy code (hey, i did it in 1.5hr) and not tested very much yet. So test on a test senario and give me feedback.

  2. Hi,

with the cost of small appliance pc's coming down we really should have a manageable way to setup a group of computers that act as one in some way. And simple to use. (wow, big order)

A start is to make a simple failover which a vbscript should easily do.

Let me give this some thot...for the Windows world ...

  3. does the http post method for trigger a call work every time?

We use that method (from a client app we wrote) and it works every time.

I personally haven't used the tapi driver yet.

  4. It works perfectly...

I just tested. (hey! why didn't you? ;-)

First, setup a hunt group (399) which has all the extensions you want to distribute the message to in "Stage 1" ( 301 302 303)

Now pickup your own phone, press the VM retrieve button, dial 5 then record the message you want to distribute and press # when done.

Next it will prompt you and you can press 2 to copy this message, dial the extension (399) and ## and your done!

(You could also have dialed the specific extensions you wanted to send the message to. wow)

Wow, that it efficient and slick!

  5. What i was wondering what can be accomplished with the TAPI?

it lets you dial a phone number from, say, Outlook, or other tapi enable applications.

  6. We have a client who wants to be able to do voice mail blasting, and when asked if we can set them up with it i was shamed to say no we cant.

was wondering if there is a plan for it anytime soon?

i know there was chat about mailbox acting like IMAP, where if a caller leaves a VM in a Sales VMB then everyone assigned to that mailbox/agent group will get the message in their mailbox, and if 1 person deletes it from their mailbox then no one else will have access to that Voice mail Message, which is a feature we have been looking toward and cant wait for its build.

Here the boss wants to send all employees a VM telling them about upcoming thanksgiving party, and if one employee deletes it, others who haven't listened to it yet should also be able to listen to it and delete it from their perspective VMB. its whats known in other PBX's as Voice Mail Blasting.

if there is currently a way to do it, please let me know how, i only found how to send a VM to one mailbox at a time, rather i need the ability to set up "Lists"

    thanks!

Yes there is a way to do this. I'm not sure the exact steps but this will work:

#-1 let a VM on your own phone

#2- now listen to the message and press 6 while listening. You now can move the message to a hunt group, agent group or ext. Move it where you want.

Let me know if this doesnt get what you want.

  7. Moishe,

Thanks, I did use the MC50 as a softphone using SJLab sip softphone. The mc50 worked nice in my recollection and sjlab wm softphone (while not glitzy) did work nice too. But if mc50 has a softphone they wrote i would REALLY like to know about it. I wasn't sure that a warehouse person would want to be tapping a screen for a phone though....just my thot...;-)

I did a video review of mc50 and sjlab phone (but youtube doesn't seem to be working today for it:)

  8. If you are looking for real rugged warehouse class device go with Motorola MC70 or MC75.

Alot of warehouse guys like engenius phones, I have not been able to get the SIP version, so I sometimes use fxs gateways for them.

You can also look at at Unidata and Polycom specralink, although not fully rugged, they are not cheap quality.

Hey, I have a motorola mc70 sitting on my desk. (data collector). That doesn't come with a sip phone does it?

    does the mc75?

thanks for all the good input.

    matt

  9. Absolutely...the m3 is NOT made for a warehouse.

(teeny buttons and so light...just my thot there)

And I'll admit as much as a fan of snom I am i do not like the snom m3 firmware...kinda troublamatic in comparison to snom 3xx series.

Maybe the new snom m9 will fix this issue? I hope.

-Looks like it has real buttons?

-and it is going to have true snom firmware

Snom should have something a bit rugged too.
