Maxx Posted September 24, 2010 Report Posted September 24, 2010 PBXnSIP support is no help, they just say ready the admin guide which I have done several times. I am having a few problems that I need to get resolved. 1. I am unable to save my configuration to my PC even with the save size set to 500MB. This is not a large PBX system. Just for test of version 4. 2. When second phone is registered, service crash on the server and have to be restarted. Take about 30 minutes for them to come back up. 3. IVP import and record doesn't work at all for any Hunt Groups. 4. Day/Night Service Flags don't work at all. I am not very happy with this software. I have used TrixBox and Avaya quit a bit and never had issues like this. If anyone can help, I would be greatful. Quote
mattlandis Posted September 25, 2010 Report Posted September 25, 2010 Hello, What O/s?, What hardware? We use windows. -No service crashes -day/night works. I haven't tested hunt groups. matt Quote
hosted Posted September 25, 2010 Report Posted September 25, 2010 our hosted server backups are not even 500 meg. hard to think a single pbx would be even close. be curious what OS and hardware also. never heard of these issues. Quote
mattlandis Posted September 26, 2010 Report Posted September 26, 2010 david, i have to agree with you. think there is a million voicemails or somehting? matt Quote

Some detail about OS and actual version number would be useful when you post the message. 1. Admin->Settings->Max. size of a configuration backup file: setting should allow up to 500 MB. If you are using the test version, your back up won't even by more more 50MB. Also, if had read admin guide several times, you must have read - use the OS level back up tools instead of PBX backup mechanism (on most of the OS except of the appliance) 2. We have several (hundreds) registrations on the PBX. 3. Not sure what you mean by IVP import 4. If you provide the details instead of "don't work at all" probably we can help. In any case, all the above are working features. Quote
Vodia PBX Posted September 28, 2010 Report Posted September 28, 2010 1. I am unable to save my configuration to my PC even with the save size set to 500MB. This is not a large PBX system. Just for test of version 4. This is actually easier than it might look. Just make a backup of the working directory of the PBX and you are all set. If you want to restore this version later, just put it into it's old place. The web interface is intended for systems that cannot provide file system access; but if you are using a PC you should be able to copy the files. 2. When second phone is registered, service crash on the server and have to be restarted. Take about 30 minutes for them to come back up. It does not crash on the first registration? What do you mean by "crash"? Does the service manager say something? 30 minutes are very very long. What processor are you using? Where is the file system? 3. IVP import and record doesn't work at all for any Hunt Groups. You mean IVR? For recording, you need a recording license, maybe that is the problem here. 4. Day/Night Service Flags don't work at all. Any more input on your setup? We have cases where it does work. Quote
Maxx Posted September 28, 2010 Author Report Posted September 28, 2010 I am using CentOS5 on a virtual machine hosted at our data center. This is not a production PBX, just for test and demo. I am testing PBXnSIP 4.0, unsuccessfully so far. Quote
mattlandis Posted September 28, 2010 Report Posted September 28, 2010 just install on a clean windows xp pro/windows 7 box and it will work fine. no problems. Quote
Maxx Posted September 28, 2010 Author Report Posted September 28, 2010 I have version 3 running on a CentOS box with no issues. This just strikes me as odd that this software would have so many issues with Linux, when Linux is a big player in production environments. Quote
Maxx Posted September 28, 2010 Author Report Posted September 28, 2010 CentOS release 5.3 (Final) PBX 4.0.1.3499 I am using a demo license so I should have access to everything and have no limitations with the small amount I am doing. Quote
mattlandis Posted September 28, 2010 Report Posted September 28, 2010 hey, i know that pbxnsip runs fine on linux...i just know more about windows and there are less "unknown stuff". I suggest you give it a quick try on a laptop or something. pbxnsip DOES work...it is rock solid too. we have pbxnsip installs we dont touch for months... Matt Quote
Vodia PBX Posted September 30, 2010 Report Posted September 30, 2010 CentOS release 5.3 (Final) If you use Linux, you need to know what you are doing. There is some help available on http://kiwi.pbxnsip.com/index.php/Installing_in_Linux, but this does not replace the know-how of a root admin. If you just want to try the product, I would just use Windows. Apart from the installation, the different OS versions are pretty much the same. Quote
olecoot Posted November 9, 2010 Report Posted November 9, 2010 Does anyone know if version 4 is capable of running on a virtual server? Has anyone done this with success? Quote
Tom Waterman Posted November 9, 2010 Report Posted November 9, 2010 Does anyone know if version 4 is capable of running on a virtual server? Has anyone done this with success? I run version 4 on a Hyper V virtual machine. It has been there for a year or so, starting with version 3.2 No problems at all. Quote
