  1. Hi, I can buy G729 Licenses and use them in Snom One Free as in Asterisk? Or i need to buy Snom Yellow / Blue?

    Tnx

    Andrea

    Andrea,

Yes, you need to buy yellow or blue. They are quite affordable.

Here is a complete FAQ about snom ONE that I wrote that might be helpful.

If you need a license we are glad to help.

  2. Hello,

I thought I understood the limits of snom ONE but there one I want to make sure I understand: how many total calls can snom ONE handle?

For example the 10 extension free edition, if everyone is on the phone and another call comes in, what happens? Seems a bit unlikely but i could happen in a very busy sales environment. It appears free edition is possibly limited to 10 exts. and 10 total calls? please verify.

Also for the yellow and blue edition.

Here is my currently compiled faq

  3. If it were a firewall issue then we would see the same issue with the 300 phones. They work without a problem.

    Hello,

Earlier you asked if someone can take a 2nd look.

We certainly can start a support ticket from our company and do that.

Sounds like network type issue and we can certainly assist. Just PM or click on my blog below, then "Contact Us"

  4. Would snom yellow and blue also have a limitation on the non-snom devices? This will be a limitation to users especially call centers where most agents uses softphones.

    Jose,

If you really need softphones feel free to contact me via PM or email.

  5. Hi,

Will shortly be setting up a VoIP system for the home. I have an X100P SE FXO PCI card on order as I am toying between using trixbox and snomeone.

Will this card work with the snomone? I can't seem to find anything but maybe I'm being stupid. The forum doesn't let me search with three letter words so may have missed something here.

    Many thanks,

    Adam

    Adam,

No, x100p isn't supported. Asterisk only board.

If you want an internal board then there is config directions for sangoma cards.

We use an external gateway Patton 4114.(is a 4 port). This is a very recommended unit (most recommended in windows world pbx people) although not nessesarily the cheapest. There is a config file generator here: http://windowspbx.blogspot.com/2010/12/patton-provides-free-pstn-gateway.html

There is a linksys spa unit that is 1 fxo and 1 fxs i think that there are install instructions.

If fxo units are just too expensive consider SIP trunk only. No gateway device needed then.

    thanks

  6. The problem with the PSTN is that it really depends a lot on the location where you are (for example, ISDN country) and what kind of termination you want (for example, T1, E1, J1, 1 x FXO, 2 x FXO, 4 x FXO, 6 x FXO, 8 x FXO, 1 x BRI, 2 x BRI, and so on). Even FXO differes from country to country with the impedance and the caller-ID. Picking one is not enough.

When I said pick 1 I meant select a manufacturer or 1 gateway for each type of ports you need. After you have 1 specific model, adding others from the same manufacturer is not that much of a deal. Quite frankly with Patton you can probably get them to do the heavy lifting as far as what the config should look like.

1 fxo, 2 fxo, ...okay, that was an attempt to inflate the list. ;-) Also, if you have a 1 port config...2,3,4,5,6 is very simple to add.

I would humbly suggest to determine what is the most important template(s) to start with do a survey using surveymonkey or something? fxo, bri? perhaps that is usa centric, but decide how many you want to do, do a survey and pick the top xx to do.

Another alternative is to build a way into snom ONE/ pbxnsip that end users can make their own templates? maybe that they could submit to snom to include?

    some suggestions

  7. I will not comment on the openess of snom ONE. That is snom's baby. ;-)

...but i will suggest to you that you won't curry favor with snom by calling their products "mediocre" ;-)

But on how to test snom ONE. I believe you can upgrade to the latest version of pbxnsip in the good old fashioned way. Then goto the "License" page and select "use eval copy" and it should be turned into the limited UA, snom ONE license.

Test it to ensure. You can always go back to you full key. snom ONE is pbxnsip with different graphics.

  8. Hello,

We have been happily using Patton 4114 gateways. They are faultless in operation. ;-) (setup and forget)

One last issue we have is being able to direct an individual pstn port on the patton 4114 to an individual extension/attendent/call queue. For example: pstn port 0/0 on the unit must always go to extension 40. Port 0/1 must always goto sales queue...

Patton's solution to this issue is to setup each pstn port on a different TCP port (5060, 5062, 5064, 5066). that is okay, except then (it appears to me) in pbxnsip/snom ONE we need to setup a seperate Trunk for each port on the patton 4114! This is a lot of setup overhead and dialplans become unmanageably complex. (If we have an 8 port patton FXO this gets even worse!!)

Does snom/pbxnsip have a solution to this? Perhaps I'm over looking something very simple.

    Thanks

    Matt

  9. Yes, my main question was how to deactivate a server. (to make sure it is not being used there anymore)

It sounds like you are watching for activations and if there are more than one for a certain amount of time you deactivate one of them.

It may be good to email the administrator if this happens. (in other words have snom ONE send an administrative email that this was done--especially if it can happen after an unknown quanity of time.)
